Abstract：The theory of wind medicinals soothing the liver holds that wind medicinals not only have the function of dispelling external wind， but also have the effect of scattering and dissipating internal wind. It can exert the pharmacological effects of wind medicinals soothing the liver through multiple targets and aspects such as dispersing by acrid flavors of medicinals，moistening，raising yang，invigorating blood，calming the mind，and resolving phlegm， and treat various difficult liver diseases caused by liver qi generating wind. The academic characteristics of ZHANG Zhongjing's Shang Han Za Bing Lun （Treatise on Cold Damage and Miscellaneous Diseases） regarding the use of wind medicinals were organized and excavated in the paper， and Zhongjing’ s methods of applying wind medicinals were studied. These have theoretical guidance and clinical practical significance for improving the therapeutic effects of clinical treatment of difficult liver diseases.
