Clinical Study on Acupoint Application with Qutan Zhiqiang Prescription Combined with Acupuncture and Moxibustion for Craniocerebral Injury Complicated with Dysphagia
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of combination use of acupoint application with Qutan Zhiqiang Prescription and acupuncture and moxibustion on craniocerebral injury complicated with dysphagia. Methods: A total of 112 patients with craniocerebral injury complicated with dysphagia treated in the Lishui Central Hospital from December 2022 to December 2023 were selected and divided into the control group (52 cases) and the observation group (60 cases) according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with conventional swallowing rehabilitation training combined with acupuncture and the observation group was additionally treated with acupoint application with Qutan Zhiqiang Prescription based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects and incidence of complications and the changes of swallowing function [Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Study (VFSS) and Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA)], quality of life [Swallowing Quality of Life (SWAL-QOL)], surface electromyography of swallowing muscle groups [Average Electromyography (AEMG) and average swallowing time] before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 88.33%( 53/60) in the observation group and 65.38%( 34/52) in the control group, the difference being significant( P<0.05). After treatment, the AEMG levels and average swallowing time in the two groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above two indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, SSA scores in the two groups were dwindled when compared with those before treatment( P<0.05),and VFSS scores were elevated when compared with those before treatment( P<0.05);the SSA score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05),and the VFSS score was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the SWAL-QOL scores in the two groups were up-regulated when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the SWAL-QOL score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications was 3.33% (2/60) in the observation group and 7.69%( 4/52) in the control group, the difference being insignificant( P>0.05). Conclusion:The combination use of acupoint application with Qutan Zhiqiang Prescription and acupuncture and moxibustion has a significant therapeutic effect on craniocerebral injury complicated with dysphagia, which can significantly improve the surface electromyography of swallowing muscle groups and dysphagia, enhance the quality of life, and reduce the incidence of complications.
