Abstract:Objective:To observe the curative effect of thumb-tack needle therapy combined with hot compress with moxa-salt package on urinary retention after spinal cord injury. Methods: A total of 60 patients with urinary retention after spinal cord injury admitted to the Department of Spine of Zhoushan City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to June 202 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to different treatment methods, with 0 cases in each group. The control group was treated with thumb-tack needle therapy, and the observation group was treated with hot compress with moxa-salt package on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects and urinary tract infection rate, and the changes of bladder residual urine volume, scores of Short-Form Health Survey-Qualiveen (SF-Qualiveen), and bladder function and levels of urodynamics indicators before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:The total clinical effective rate was 96.67%(29/0) in the observation group and 76.67%(2/0) in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After one week and two weeks of treatment, the bladder residual urine volume in the two groups was reduced when compared with that before treatment, and the bladder residual urine volume in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at the same time, differences being significant (P<0.05). After two weeks of treatment, the SF-Qualiveen scores in the two groups were dwindled when compared with those before treatment, and the SF-Qualiveen score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). After one week and two weeks of treatment, the scores of bladder function in the two groups were down-regulated when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the bladder function score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at the same time (P<0.05). After treatment, the safe bladder capacity, detrusor pressure, maximum urine flow rate and average urine flow rate in the two groups were elevated when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the safe bladder capacity, detrusor pressure, maximum urine flow rate and average urine flow rate in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The urinary tract infection rate was 0.00%(9/0) in the control group and 6.67%(2/0) in the observation group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The combined use of thumb-tack needle therapy and hot compress with moxa-salt package has a definite curative effect on urinary retention after spinal cord injury, which is beneficial to improve the urination, quality of life, bladder function and urinary flow dynamics, and reduce the urinary tract infection.
