Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Yishen Jianyao Decoction on lumbar disc herniation of liver-kidney yin deficiency type. Methods:A total of 77 cases of patients with lumbar disc herniation of liver-kidney yin deficiency type were divided into the treatment group of 39 cases and the control group of 38 cases based on the random number table method. The control group was treated with Celecoxib combined with Eperisonet, and the treatment group was treated with modified Yishen Jianyao Decoction. Both groups were treated continuously for two weeks. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, Japan Orthopedic Association scores (JOA scores) , and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment, and the clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were evaluated. Results: During the treatment, two cases were excluded from the treatment group and one from the control group, leaving 37 cases in each group for the final study. After treatment, the total effective rate was 78.38% in the control group and 94.59% in the treatment group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). One and two weeks after treatment, the TCM syndrome scores and VAS scores were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and the scores of subjective symptoms, clinical signs, and daily activity limitation in JOA were higher (P<0.05). The TCM syndrome score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group two weeks after treatment (P< 0.05),and the JOA subjective symptom score was increased (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in VAS scores and the scores of clinical signs and daily activity limitation in JOA between the two groups one and two weeks after treatment (P>0.05). No adverse reaction occurred in the two groups. Conclusion:The modified Yishen Jianyao Decoction has a definite curative effect on lumbar disc herniation of liver-kidney yin deficiency type, which can alleviate clinical symptoms, relieve pain, and improve lumbar function.
