Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Chaihu Guizhi Decoction on generalized anxiety disorder of binding constraint of liver qi type and its effect on pain. Methods: A total of 102 patients with generalized anxiety disorder of binding constraint of liver qi type were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 51 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with Chaihu Guizhi Decoction, and the control group was treated with routine western medicine. The scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and levels of serum neurotransmitters [norepinephrine (NE) and dopamine (DA)] were compared before and after treatment between the two groups;the clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were evaluated. Results: The total effective rate was 88.24% in the treatment group, higher than that of 68.63% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of VAS and HAMA, TCM syndrome scores and levels of serum NE and DA in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above three scores and two levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 1.96% in the treatment group, lower than that of 13.73 % in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Chaihu Guizhi Decoction has a definite curative effect on generalized anxiety disorder of binding constraint of liver qi type, which can effectively relieve the pain and anxiety of patients and regulate the levels of neurotransmitters with great safety.
