Clinical Study on Specific Manipulation of Suspended Moxibustion for Treatment of Elderly Patients with Moderate to Severe Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of specific manipulation of suspended moxibustion on elderly patients with moderate to severe incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD). Methods:A total of 64 patients with IAD were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group , with 32 patients in each group. The control group received routine IAD nursing measures, and the observation group received specific manipulation of suspended moxibustion in addition to the control group. The wound healing rates on days 3,5,and 7 were compared between the two groups;after treatment, the wound healing time and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores were compared between the two groups. Results: After 3, 5, and 7 days of treatment, the wound healing rate of dermatitis in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the wound healing time in the observation group was (4.03±1.33) days, while that in the control group was (6.47±1.68) days, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of TCM syndromes such as skin rash, polymorphic skin lesions, skin itching, and white and greasy tongue coating in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and each score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Specific manipulation of suspended moxibustion has significant therapeutic effects on elderly patients with moderate to severe IAD. It can effectively improve patients' TCM syndrome and accelerate the healing time of skin lesions.
