Abstract:Objective:To observe the curative effect of point application combined with frontal-threeneedle on insomnia. Methods: A total of 116 patients with insomnia were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 58 cases in each group. The control group received point application, and the observation group received frontal-threeneedle treatment on the basis of point application. Compared the clinical effects of the two groups and compared the changes in related neurotransmitters [melatonin, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), orexin A, dopamine (DA)],sleep diary, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores before and after treatment in the two groups. Results: After treatment, the levels of melatonin and 5-HT in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the levels of orexin A and DA were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the levels of melatonin and 5-HT in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05),and the levels of orexin A and DA were both lower (P<0.05). After treatment, both totalsleeptime (TST) and sleep efficiency (SE) index values were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and sleep onset latency (SOL) index values were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the TST and SE index values in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05),and the SOL index value was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the sleep quality, falling asleep time, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disorders, sleeping pills, daytime dysfunction, and PSQI total scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). The above seven scores and the total score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate of clinical efficacy was 93.10% in the observation group, and 79.31% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Point application combined with frontal-three-needle can regulate the expression of related neurotransmitters, alleviate symptoms of sleep disorders, and improve sleep quality in the treatment of insomnia
