Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of scalp acupuncture combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on global developmental delay (GDD) in children and its effects on their cognitive and language proficiency. Methods:A total of 94 cases of GDD children were enrolled in the study and divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 47 cases in each group; during the observation period, one case was excluded in each group, and finally, there were 46 cases enrolled in each group. The control group was treated with rTMS, and the study group was additionally treated with scalp acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Clinical effects, as well as the scores of Gesell Developmental Assessment, S-S Language Delay, and Infants-Junior Middle School Students' Social-Life Abilities Scale (S-M scale) were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 91.30% in the study group and 76.09% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of adaptive, gross motor, fine motor, language, and personal-social behavior in Gesell in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of language expression, dysarthria, basic learning ability, and other domains in S-S in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of general self-help, locomotion, communication, socialization skills, occupation, and self-direction in S-M scale in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Scalp acupuncture combined with rTMS has significant clinical effects on the treatment of GDD in children, which can improve children's intellectual development and language development, thus to improve their social-life ability.
