Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Tenghuang Jiangu Capsules combined with Calcium Carbonate D3 Granules on patients with primary osteoporosis (POP) of kidney deficiency and blood stasis type and its effect on bone metabolism. Methods： A total of 94 patients with POP of kidney deficiency and blood stasis type were selected as the study objects，and were divided into the trial group and the control group according to random number table method， with 47 cases in each group. The trial group was treated with Tenghuang Jiangu Capsules combined with Calcium Carbonate D3 Granules， and the control group was simply treated with Calcium Carbonate D3 Granules. Clinical effects， as well as Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores， Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores， bone mineral density (BMD)， and serum 25 dihydroxy vitamin D3 [25(OH)D3] and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results： After treatment， The total effective rate in the trial group was 95.74%，which was higher than that of 72.34% in the control group (P＜ 0.05). After treatment， the scores of TCM syndromes such as soreness and weakness of the waist and knees，stabbing pain in the lumbar vertebra，difficulty in walking，weakness in the lower limbs，and VAS in the two groups were decreased compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the scores in the trial group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the BMD of the lumbar vertebrae， femoral neck and Ward's triangle and the levels of serum 25(OH)D3 and PTH in both groups were increased compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above indicators in the trial group were all higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Tenghuang Jiangu Capsules combined with Calcium Carbonate D3 Granules in the treatment of kidney deficiency and blood stasis type POP has definite clinical effect，which can improve the clinical symptoms of patients，reduce the degree of pain and regulate bone metabolism.
