Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of thumb-tack needling combined with hot compress with moxa-salt package on puerperal urinary retention. Methods:A total of 120 cases of women with puerperal urinary retention after vaginal delivery were selected and divided into the western medicine group, the thumb-tack needling group and the Chinese medicine group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The western medicine group was treated with western medicine, the thumb-tack needling group was treated with thumb-tack needling for subcutaneous embedding, and the Chinese medicine group was treated with thumb-tack needling combined with hot compress with moxa-salt package. The clinical effects, the occurrence of adverse reactions, the first urination recovery time, and length of hospital stay were compared among the three groups;the changes in residual urine volume, depression scores, anxiety scores and symptom scores before and after treatment were compared among the three groups. Results: The total effective rate was 97.50% in the Chinese medicine group, higher than those in the other two groups, the difference being significant (P< 0.05). The first urination recovery time and the length of hospital stay in the Chinese medicine group were shorter than those in the other two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, the residual urine volume in the three groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment, and the residual urine volume in the Chinese medicine group was lower than those in the other two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of depression and anxiety in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the scores of depression and anxiety in the Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the other two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, the urinary status and lower abdominal symptom scores in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the urinary status and lower abdominal symptom score in the Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the other two groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the comparison of the incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:The application of thumb-tack needling combined with hot compress with moxa-salt package for puerperal urinary retention can enhance the synergistic effect, shorten the first urination time and hospitalization period, reduce the bladder residual urine volume, relieve depression and anxiety and improve clinical symptoms, with high safety.
