Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture on myofascial trigger points combined with scraping along the channels in the head on tension-type headache. Methods: A total of 96 patients with tension-type headache were divided into the control group and the observation group, with 48 cases in each group, using a random number table method. Both groups were treated with Pregabalin; the control group received treatment with scraping along the channels in the head, and the observation group received treatment with acupuncture on myofascial trigger points combined with scraping along the channels in the head. The scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI),and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes,as well as frequency and duration of headache were compared between the two groups before and after treatment, and the clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions were evaluated in both groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 91.67% in the observation group, which was higher than that of 72.92% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of VAS,PSQI,and TCM syndromes,as well as headache frequency in the two groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the headache duration was shortened (P<0.05). The scores of VAS,PSQI,and TCM syndromes,as well as frequency of headache in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture on myofascial trigger points combined with scraping along the channels in the head has a definite therapeutic effect on tension-type headache, which can effectively alleviate headache symptoms, improve sleep quality, and have high safety.
