Abstract: This paper introduces Professor WANG Zhanglian's clinical experience in treating hyperemesis gravidarum with acupuncture. Professor WANG Zhanglian believes that hyperemesis gravidarum is generally caused by spleen-stomach weakness, liver qi attacking the stomach, and phlegmdamp blockage, and the pathogenesis is mainly the failure of menstrual blood to drain after pregnancy, and the blood gathers to nourish the fetus, resulting in the ascending counterflow of Chong qi and the loss of stomach harmony and descent. The treatment is mainly to regulate qi and harmonize the middle, and direct counterflow downward and arrest vomiting. In clinical practice, attention is paid to the overall conditioning, and the main points selected are Baihui (GV20) point, Taiyang (EX-HN5) point, Yangbai (GB14) point, Yintang (EX-HN3) point, Fengchi (GB20) point, Neiguan (PC6) point, Zhongwan (CV12) point, Xiawan (CV10) point and Zusanli (ST36) point. Acupoints are chosen based on syndrome differentiation, and patients with spleen-stomach weakness are added with Diji (SP8) point;patients with disharmony of liver and stomach are added with Taichong (ST40) point;patients with phlegm-damp blockage are added with Fenglong (LV3) point. The therapy of acupuncture combined with manipulation and proper supplementation and drainage leads to a great therapeutic effect.
