Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Sanbi Decoction combined with cervical acupuncture on cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR) of wind-cold-damp type. Methods:A total of 102 CSR patients were selected and divided into the western medicine group and the combination group according to the random number table method, with 51 cases in each group. The two groups were given neck traction for rehabilitation;the western medicine group was treated with Celecoxib Capsules, and the combination group was given Sanbi Decoction combined with cervical acupuncture based on the treatment of the western medicine group. The two groups were treated for four weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated, and the symptoms and signs as well as scores of wind-cold-damp syndrome were compared between the two groups. The levels of serum prostaglandin E2 (PGE2),substance P (SP) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) were detected. Results: The total effective rate was 92.16% in the combination group, higher than that of 74.51% in the western medicine group (P<0.05). After two weeks and four weeks of treatment, the scores of the Clinical Assessment Scale for Cervical Spondylosis (CASCS) in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the CASCS score in the combination group was higher than that in the western medicine group at the same time point (P<0.05). After 2 weeks and 4 weeks of treatment, the scores of wind-cold-damp syndrome in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the score of windcold- damp syndrome in the combination group was lower than that in the western medicine group at the same time point (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum PGE2, SP and 5-HT in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the levels of serum PGE2, SP and 5-HT in the combination group were lower than those in the western medicine group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of Sanbi Decoction combined with cervical acupuncture has a significant therapeutic effect on treating CSR of wind-cold-damp type, which can promote the improvement of symptoms and Chinese medicine syndromes, and down-regulate the levels of pain mediators.
