Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of enema with Yiqi Yangyin Prescription on intestinal obstruction in patients with advanced cancer. Methods: A total of 92 cases of patients with advanced cancer complicated with intestinal obstruction were selected and divided into the combination group and the western medicine group according to the random number table method,with 46 cases in each group. The western medicine group was given routine western medicine treatment, and the combination group was additionally treated with enema with Yiqi Yangyin Prescription based on the treatment of the western medicine group. Both groups were treated for five days. The clinical effects and symptom relief time were compared between the two groups;symptom scores and gastrointestinal hormone levels were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate was 89.13% in the combination group,higher than that of 71.74% in the western medicine group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of symptoms such as stop of exhaust and defecation,bouts of abdominal pain,distention and fullness which refuse pressure,nausea and vomiting were all decreased in the two groups (P<0.05),and the above scores in the combination group were lower than those in the western medicine group (P<0.05). The recovery time of defecation and bowel sound and the relief time of abdominal distension in the combination group were shorter than those in the western medicine group (P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of diamine oxidase (DAO) and gastrin (GAS) in serum in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05), and the levels in the combination group were lower than those in the western medicine group (P<0.05); motilin (MOT) levels in the two groups were increased (P<0.05), and the level in the combination group was higher than that in the western medicine group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Enema with Yiqi Yangyin Prescription can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of intestinal obstruction in patients with advanced cancer,improve their gastrointestinal function and regulate gastrointestinal hormone levels.
