Abstract:In modern medicine, the treatment of intractable insomnia is mainly based on oral sleeping drugs, but this may lead to easy addiction, adverse reactions, and easy relapse. In Chinese medicine,it is believed that the pathological basis of intractable insomnia is the failure of yin and yang intermingling and the failure of keeping the spirit in the interior. The static and dynamic spirit-regulating method, created by Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of The Fourth Clinical Medical School of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine based on the concept of holism, achieves the effect of harmonizing yin and yang through taking both body and spirit into account and focusing on regulating spirit. When using the static and dynamic spirit-regulating method, Chinese medicine practitioners perform acupuncture to regulate spirit (regulating conception vessel and unblocking governor vessel, and auricular point seed-pressing), and require patients to coordinate with dynamic movement (aerobic exercise of moderate-to-medium intensity) and static movement (Qigong) to adjust their own body and spirit. This method is guided by the theory of taking both body and spirit into account and harmonizing yin and yang, and discusses the clinical ideas from the theory of Chinese medicine, which provides clinical reference.
