Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of oral administration of Cangyi Mingmu Decoction combined with cold-wet compresses on eyes on clinical symptoms and tear cytokines in patients with anaphylactic conjunctivitis. Methods:A total of 68 patients with anaphylactic conjunctivitis were selected as the study subjects and divided into the control group and the study group according to the random number table method, with 34 cases in each group. The control group was treated with 0.05% Azelastine Eye Drops, and the study group was treated with oral administration of Cangyi Mingmu Decoction combined with cold-wet compresses on eyes. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups, and the changes in symptom and sign scores, tear biochemical factors [eosinophil cationic protein (ECP), histamine (HA), leukotriene B4 (LTB4)],tear film stability indexes [Schirmer I test (SIT),break-up time (BUT)],lacrimal river parameters, and serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels were compared before and after treatment. Results : After 2 weeks of treatment, the symptom and sign scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the symptom and sign scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The total clinical effective rate was 94.12% in the study group, and 76.47% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, the levels of ECP, HA, and LTB4 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the three levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P< 0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, the SIT and BUT index values in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the SIT and BUT index values in the study group were larger than those in the control group (P<0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, the height, depth, and crosssectional areas of lacrimal rivers in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and serum IgE levels were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); the height, depth, and cross-sectional area of lacrimal rivers in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the serum IgE level was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 8.82% in the study group, and 14.71% in the control group, there being no significance in the difference (P>0.05). Conclusion: Oral administration of Cangyi Mingmu Decoction combined with cold-wet compresses on eyes can improve symptoms and signs of anaphylactic conjunctivitis, enhance tear film stability, reduce the levels of inflammatory mediators in tears, alleviate allergic reactions, promote tear film function recovery, and have high medication safety.
