Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of meridian-sinew acupuncture combined with tuina for sequelae of peripheral facial paralysis. Methods: A total of 86 cases of patients with sequelae of peripheral facial paralysis were selected and divided into the meridian-sinew acupuncture group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 43 cases in each group. The two groups were treated with Mecobalamin Tablets; the meridian-sinew acupuncture group was additionally treated with meridian-sinew acupuncture and tuina; the control group was given conventional acupuncture and tuina therapy. Clinical effects and the scores of Stennert Index of facial nerve paralysis and the Facial Disability Index (FDI) were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 81.40% in the meridian-sinew acupuncture group, higher than that of 60.47% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). The scores of Stennert Index of facial nerve paralysis in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the scores of Stennert Index of facial nerve paralysis in the meridian-sinew acupuncture group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The scores of Facial Disability Index-Physical (FDIP) in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the scores of Facial Disability Index-Social (FDIS) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant (P<0.05); FDIP score in the meridian-sinew acupuncture group was higher than that in the control group, and FDIS score in the meridian-sinew acupuncture group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Compared with conventional acupuncture and tuina therapy, the combination of meridian-sinew acupuncture combined with tuina has a better curative effect on the sequelae of peripheral facial paralysis, which can effectively alleviate the condition and improve facial nerve function.
