Abstract：The spleen and stomach of middle energizer，located in the middle part of the human body， is the transportation hub of human body's qi movement， qi， blood， essence， fluid. Reconciling the ascending and descending of the human body's qi movement，the blending of upper and lower water and fire，and the intercommunication of the clear，the turbidity，yin and yang are important guarantees for the normal functioning of the physiological functions of the whole body's viscera， bowels， meridian and collateral. This is the general chapter of the mediation in middle energizer theory. Failure of mediation in middle energizer can lead to imbalance of qi movement ascending and descending，incoordination of upper and lower water and fire， and failure of distinguishing the clear， the turbidity， yin and yang， eventually causing numerous diseases. The pathogenesis of “cough， phlegm and panting” in the stable stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and “vomiting，stuffiness and diarrhea” as the main syndromes of Banxia Xiexin Decoction， lies in that the mediation in middle energizer is out of control. Therefore， the application of Banxia Xiexin Decoction in the treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the stable stage has a theoretical basis， and the clinical effect is satisfactory. It provides new ideas and methods for the prevention and treatment of Chinese medicine for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the stable stage.
