Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of modified Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction combined with Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets on chronic urticaria. Methods： A total of 62 cases of patients with chronic urticaria were selected as research objects， and were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 31 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets，and the observation group was treated with modified Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction combined with Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets. Both groups were treated for 1 month. The clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated； traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores， Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) scores，levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4)，interleukin-17 (IL-17)，C-reactive protein (CRP)，immunoglobulin (IgE)，T lymphocytes including CD3+，CD4+ and CD8+ were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. During the treatment，the incidence of adverse reactions was analyzed. Results：The total effective rate was 96.77% in the observation group，higher than that of 67.74% in the control group (P＜ 0.05). After treatment， TCM syndrome scores and DLQI scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and TCM syndrome score and DLQI score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of IL-4， IL-17， CRP and IgE in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the levels of IL-4，IL-17，CRP and IgE in serum in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of CD3+ and CD4+ in serum in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment，and the levels of CD8+ were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)； the levels of CD3+ and CD4+ in the observation group were higher than those in the control group，and the level of CD8+ was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion：Modified Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction combined with Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets for chronic urticaria has a definite curative effect and can improve the quality of life of patients， regulate the expression of serum inflammatory factors and improve immune function，which is safe and reliable with fewer adverse reactions.
