Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of auricular point seed- pressing combined with point application for acute pancreatitis. Methods: A total of 92 patients with acute pancreatitis were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the study group according to the random envelope method, with 46 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine, and the study group was treated with point application and auricular point seed- pressing based on the treatment of the control group. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, Modified CT Severity Index (MCTSI) grades, laboratory indicators [white blood cell count (WBC), C- reactive protein (CRP), serum amylase (AMS) and lipase (LPS)], and clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 97.83% in the study group, higher than that of 84.78% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores such as abdominal fulness and hard pain, dry stool, hot flashes, chest congestion, vomiting, and scanty dark urine in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the MCTSI grade was superior to that in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of WBC,CRP,AMS,and LPS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the levels of the above indicators in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Auricular point seed-pressing combined with point application in the treatment of acute pancreatitis can inhibit the inflammatory responses of the body, improve the TCM syndromes and MCTSI grades, and have significant clinical effect.
