Curative Effect of Bushen Yanggan Prescription Combined with Western Medicine for Perimenopausal Syndrome and Its Effect on Sex Hormones and Quality of Life
Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of Bushen Yanggan Prescription combined with western medicine for perimenopausal syndrome (PMS) and its effect on sex hormones and quality of life. Methods:A total of 98 cases of PMS patients were selected as the study objects and were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,with 49 cases in each group. The control group was given the oral administration of Estradiol Valerate and Progesterone Capsules, and the observation group was additionally treated with Bushen Yanggan Prescription. The clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups;traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores,sex hormone levels and quality of life were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the scores of TCM syndromes such as hot flashes and sweating,irascibility and irritability,mood changes,dizziness and tinnitus,low back pain, palpitation and chest oppression, insomnia and profuse dreaming in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05),and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 91.84% in the observation group,higher than that of 75.51% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of estradiol (E2) in the two groups were increased (P<0.05),and the level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05), and the levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P< 0.05). After treatment,the scores of WHO Quality of Life Brief Scale (WHOQOL-BREF) in psychological, physiological, environmental and social relations fields in the two groups were increased (P<0.05), and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:Bushen Yanggan Prescription combined with western medicine for PMS can effectively improve the clinical effect and has positive effects on improving the levels of sex hormones and quality of life of patients,with a safe and reliable effect.
