Abstract： Combing with many years of clinical experience， Professor ZHAO Yongqiang uses “Five Differentiations and One Reinforcement” to comprehensively treat malignant tumors based on syndrome differentiation， and the therapeutic effect is very good. According to the different stages of tumor progression and different periods of treatment， Professor ZHAO proposes the following “five times of differentiation”. Firstly， the origin of all things is to differentiate qi at the beginning. Secondly， it is important to differentiate blood when qi and blood are rooted in each other. Thirdly， it is essential to differentiate phlegm when concretions and conglomerations accumulate and gather. Fourthly，it is auxiliary to differentiate yin and yang when examining the syndromes and causes. Fifthly， it is an envoy to differentiate the disease location when treating it based on holism. He also proposes “one time of reinforcement”， that is， considering both the root and branch and reinforcing healthy qi to bank up the branch. He puts forward to the application of “Five Differentiations and One Reinforcement”， that is， comprehensively treating malignant tumors based on syndrome differentiation. In addition，he also stresses that fortifying the spleen and the stomach to regulate pivot movement should be carried out throughout the treatment，and attention should be paid to the function of the patient's spleen and stomach.
