Abstract：This paper introduces LU Guangqian's prescription and medication for lumbar disc herniation. LU Guangqian believes that liver-kidney depletion is the main pathogenesis of lumbar disc herniation，with cold- damp and blood stasis in most cases. Therefore， based on the famous formulas from previous dynasties， LU Guangqian has created three primary prescriptions， namely Yaobeitong Prescription， Yaotong Prescription，and Yaotu Prescription. Yaobeitong Prescription is used for the syndrome of wind- damp in the exterior；Yaotong Prescription is used to supplement the liver and kidney and resolve phlegm- damp syndrome； Yaotu Prescription focuses on impediment syndrome caused by the liver- kidney depletion and qi-blood deficiency. The above three prescriptions should be modified based on syndrome differentiation in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.
