Abstract:This paper introduces Professor DAI Shuqing's clinical experience in treating peripheral facial paralysis by combining acupuncture and medicine based on the theory of harmonizing Shaoyang. Professor DAI Shuqing believes that the incidence of peripheral facial paralysis is due to the obstruction and stagnation of external pathogens, leading to the disturbance of Shaoyang pivot and the failure of facial orifices to control the closing and opening. In his treatment, based on the theory of harmonizing Shaoyang,Professor DAI applies acupuncture at conventional points as well as Waiguan point (SJ 5) and Neiguan point (PC 6), and adopts the internal administration of modified Xiaochaihu Decoction. The combination of acupuncture and medicine leads to a satisfactory clinical effect.
