Effect of Auricular Point Seed-Pressing Combined with Acupoint Massage for Nausea and Vomiting and Sleep Quality in Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy for Digestive Tract Malignant Tumor
Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of auricular point seed- pressing combined with acupoint massage for nausea and vomiting and sleep quality in patients undergoing chemotherapy for digestive tract malignant tumor. Methods: The clinical data of 133 patients undergoing chemotherapy for digestive tract malignant tumor were given retrospective analysis, and were divided into the routine group and the Chinese medicine intervention group according to different treatment methods, with 76 and 57 cases in each group respectively. In the routine group, 39 cases were removed or lost, and 37 cases were eventually included. In the Chinese medicine intervention group , 17 cases were removed or lost , and 40 cases were eventually included. The routine group was treated with routine western medicine to stop vomiting, and the Chinese medicine intervention group was treated with auricular point seed- pressing combined with acupoint massage based on the treatment of the routine group. The grading of nausea and vomiting after 3 courses of chemotherapy (after treatment) between two groups, as well as the gastric function indicators [levels of pepsinogenⅠ(PGI),pepsinogenⅡ(PGⅡ),and gastrin (GAS)] and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores were compared before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the grading of nausea and vomiting in the Chinese medicine intervention group was lower than that in the routine group, difference being significant (P<0.05). The levels of PGⅠ,PGⅡ,and GAS in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the levels of PGⅠ,PGⅡ, and GAS in serum in the Chinese medicine intervention group were higher than those in the routine group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The sleep status, medication use, daytime function scores, and total scores of PSQI in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the sleep status, medication use, daytime function score, and total score of PSQI in the Chinese medicine intervention group were lower than those in the routine group, differences being significant (P< 0.05). Conclusion:Auricular point seed-pressing combined with acupoint massage can effectively alleviate nausea and vomiting symptoms in patients undergoing chemotherapy for digestive tract malignant tumor, and improve their gastric function and sleep quality.
