Abstract:This paper introduces Professor FU Wenbin's clinical experience in treating spastic torticollis by his three- step integrative acupuncture- moxibustion therapy (firstly, apply acupuncture; secondly, apply moxibustion;thirdly, apply other methods to consolidate). Professor FU wenbin believes that spastic torticollis starts slowly and insidiously, so it is necessary to use both Chinese and western methods to make a clear diagnosis. Its onset is often related to emotional disorders and externally- contracted pathogenic qi, so the treatment should focus on the heart and gallbladder based on syndrome differentiation. He summarizes and puts forward a three- step integrative acupuncture- moxibustion therapy. Firstly, apply acupuncture; he attaches great importance to the application of the following methods:selecting eight confluent points, regulating the spirit before treating diseases, and guiding qi to its origin. Secondly, apply moxibustion: he uses a new treatment of fine moxibustion, in which moxa sticks in the size of small rice grains are placed on points and then burned. Thirdly, apply other methods to consolidate: he uses cupping following collateral bloodletting, intradermal needle and auricular acupuncture to consolidate the curative effect. Therefore, a good effect can be achieved because he comprehensively uses acupuncture, fine moxibustion, cupping following collateral bloodletting and other Chinese medicine characteristic therapy to treat spastic torticollis.
