Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Fire-Dragon Cupping on senile knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods: A total of 80 senile patients with KOA were divided into the treatment group and the control group by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given an oral administration of Celecoxib Capsules, and the treatment group was treated with Fire- Dragon Cupping; the two groups were treated continuously for 2 weeks. The scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and the Medical Outcomes Study Short Form- 36 (SF- 36) were compared before and after treatment between the two groups;the clinical effects and adverse reactions were also compared between the two groups. Results: After 2 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate was 85.00% in the treatment group, higher than that of 70.00% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of VAS and WOMAC were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the SF-36 scores were increased (P<0.05); the scores of VAS and WOMAC in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P< 0.05), and the SF- 36 score was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). No adverse reactions occurred in both groups. Conclusion:Fire-Dragon Cupping can relieve pain and improve knee joint function in treating senile patients with KOA,with significant clinical effect and high safety.
