Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Bushen Tonglin Decoction combined with Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium on chronic urinary system infection and its effect on serum procalcitonin (PCT) and urine white blood cell count. Methods： A total of 99 patients with chronic urinary system infection were selected and divided into the observation group (50 cases) and the control group (49 cases) according to random number table method. The observation group was given the therapy of Bushen Tonglin Decoction combined with Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium，and the control group was treated with Furantoin Tablets combined with Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium. The clinical effects and the changes of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores，serum PCT and urine white blood cell were observed in the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 92.00% in the observation group， higher than that of 77.55% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of TCM syndromes such as frequent urination，dribble of urine，low abdominal distension，low back pain，lassitude of the spirit and lack of strength were all decreased when compared with those before treatment in the two groups (P＜0.05)， and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment and one， two and three months of follow- up， the levels of serum PCT and urine white blood cell count in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at each time， differences being significant (P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Bushen Tonglin Decoction combined with Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium can improve clinical effect on chronic urinary system infection，which can reduce serum PCT and urine white blood cell count and improve the TCM syndromes.
