Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of self-made Peiben Kangmei Decoction combined with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) solution for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with oral candidiasis. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with COPD complicated with oral candidiasis were selected as the study subjects, and divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received routine COPD treatment and 2.5% NaHCO3 solution for mouthwash, and the treatment group received Peiben Kangmei Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects, negative conversion rates of Candida from pharyngeal swabs, oral infection indexes (oral pH, and Candida colony counts), scores of COPD Assessment Test (CAT),and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between two groups. Results: After 3 and 7 days of treatment, the total effective rates were 80.00% and 90.00% respectively in the treatment group, and 53.33% and 66.67% respectively in the control group, the differences between the two groups at the same time point being significant (P<0.05). After 7 days of treatment, the negative conversion rate of Candida was 66.67% in the treatment group, and 40.00% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After 7 days of treatment, the oral pH in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment and after 3 days of treatment (P< 0.05),and the oral pH after 3 and 7 days of treatment in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After 7 days of treatment, the Candida colony counts in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment and after 3 days of treatment (P<0.05),and the Candida colony counts after 3 and 7 days of treatment in the treatment group were less than those in the control group (P<0.05). After 7 days of treatment, the CAT scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment and after 3 days of treatment (P<0.05),and the CAT scores after 3 and 7 days of treatment in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 6.67% in the treatment group and 23.33% in the control group, there being no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:The combination of Peiben Kangmou Decoction and NaHCO3 solution has a significant curative effect on COPD complicated with oral candidiasis, which can improve the oral infection situation, increase the negative conversion rates of Candida, and have relatively good safety.
