Abstract: Objective: To analyze the medication rules of the formulae in Ji Yin Gang Mu (A Compendium of Female Disorders) in treating menstrual disease based on data mining. Methods: The formulae in Ji Yin Gang Mu in treating menstrual disease were screened, and frequency statistics, association rules and cluster analysis were used to find out the medication rules of using Chinese medicine to treat menstrual disease. Results : A total of 176 prescriptions were obtained , involving 184 kinds of Chinese herbs,and the total cumulative frequency was 1166 times. The commonly used Chinese herbs for treatment included Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Paeoniae Radix Alba, Chuanxiong Rhizoma, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata,Cyperi Rhizoma,etc. The medicinal nature of the herbs was mainly warm,and the flavors were mainly sweet,acrid and bitter,which entered the liver,spleen and heart channels. The main therapeutic herbs were deficiency-supplementing herbs,blood-invigorating and stasis-dissolving herbs,and heat-clearing herbs;and in terms of the three categories of herbs,the upper and middle categories were of the majority. By association rule analysis, 23 pairs of core combinations such as Paeoniae Radix Alba-Chuanxiong Rhizoma,Paeoniae Radix Alba-Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chuanxiong Rhizoma- Paeoniae Radix Alba, Chuanxiong Rhizoma- Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chuanxiong Rhizoma-Angelicae Sinensis Radix-Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata were obtained. According to the cluster analysis, four new prescriptions of enriching blood and regulating menstruation, invigorating blood and dissolving stasis, warming the channels and stanching bleeding and raising yang and boosting the stomach,and fortifying the spleen and boosting qi were obtained. Conclusion:The herbs used in Ji Yin Gang Mu in treating menstrual disease are mainly warm, and their flavors are mainly sweet, acrid and bitter. The medication pays attention to the effect of the liver,spleen and heart on menstruation. In terms of treatment principles,the majority is to enrich blood and regulate menstruation,raise yang and boost the stomach, fortify the spleen and boost qi, invigorate blood and dissolve stasis, warm the channels and stanch bleeding,and the method of supplementing is particularly used. Special attention is paid to dispelling pathogen and to the mutual application of both attacking and supplementing.
