Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of modified Banxia Xiexin Decoction for reflux esophagitis complicated with acid reflux with liver- stomach disharmony syndrome and its effects on the levels of gastrin (GAS) and motilin (MLT) in serum. Methods： A total of 80 cases of patients with reflux esophagitis complicated with acid reflux with liver- stomach disharmony syndrome were selected and randomly divided into the study group and the control group，with 40 cases in each group. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and the levels of GAS and MLT before and after treatment，as well as curative effects， were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate was 92.5% in the study group and 75.0% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the TCM syndrome scores of hiccup and belching， acid swallowing and heartburn， fullness in the chest and hypochondrium， and depression between the two groups (P＞0.05)；after treatment，the above TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and each score in the study group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of GAS and MLT between the two groups (P＞0.05)； after treatment，the levels of GAS and MLT in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the two levels in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： Modified Banxia Xiexin Decoction has a significant curative effect in the treatment of reflux esophagitis complicated with acid reflux with the liver-stomach disharmony syndrome and is conduce to the improvement of TCM syndromes and enhance gastrointestinal motility.
