Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Zhishang Capsules combined with conventional therapy on acute ankle sprain. Methods：A total of 86 patients with acute ankle sprain were selected and divided into the observation group (46 cases) and the control group (40 cases) according to random number table method. The two groups were given routine treatment of ankle sprain. The control group was given physical therapy，and the observation group was additionally treated with Zhishang Capsules orally based on the treatment of the control group. With 5 days as a course of treatment，the two groups were treated for 2 courses. The clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated，and the clinical symptom scores were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the pain degree，and the symptom relief time and functional recovery time in the two groups were observed. Results：The total effective rate was 100% in the observation group，higher than that of 90.00% in the control group， difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of pain， ecchymosis，swelling and dysfunction were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜ 0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the VAS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The time of resting pain relief and swelling relief in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the time of functional recovery was earlier than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Zhishang Capsules combined with conventional therapy for acute ankle sprain can eliminate the pain and swelling of patients in a short time，with accurate effect and good safety.
