Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Weifuchun Capsules combined with western medicine for chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) of spleen deficiency type. Methods：A total of 92 cases of CAG patients of spleen deficiency type were selected as the study objects and divided into the trial group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 46 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine， and the trial group was additionally treated with Weifuchun Capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 12 weeks. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores， gastroscopy and pathological scores， free acid， lactic acid， total acidity and pH values in gastric juice， and gastric mucosal blood flow were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results：Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of TCM syndrome scores and gastroscopy and pathological scores between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment， TCM syndrome scores and gastroscopy and pathological scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜ 0.05)， and the scores in the trial group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of free acid，lactic acid and total acidity in gastric juice between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，the contents of free acid and total acidity in the two groups were increased (P＜0.05)，and the contents of lactic acid were decreased (P＜0.05)；the contents of free acid and total acidity in gastric juice in the trial group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the content of lactic acid in the trial group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the distribution of pH values in gastric juice between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment， the comparison of the distribution of pH values in gastric juice showed significance in the difference (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of gastric mucosal blood flow of anterior wall，posterior wall，greater curvature，and lesser curvature of gastric antrum between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，the comparison of the distribution of pH values in gastric juice showed significance in the difference (P＜0.05)；after treatment，the above gastric mucosal blood flow in the two groups was increased (P＜0.05)，and the gastric mucosal blood flow in the trial group was larger than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Weifuchun Capsules combined with western medicine for CAG of spleen deficiency type can improve clinical symptoms and pathological status of patients，regulate the contents of free acid，lactic acid and total acidity and pH values in gastric juice，and improve gastric mucosal blood flow. It has better clinical effects than the simple application of western medicine.
