Effect of Yang- Reinforcing Cupping Therapy Combined with Routine Analgesic Mea⁃ sures on Joint Pain and Joint Function After Rotator Cuff Repair Under Shoulder Arthroscopy
Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of yang-reinforcing cupping therapy combined with routine analgesic measures on joint pain and joint function after rotator cuff repair under shoulder arthroscopy. Methods: A total of 84 cases of patients with rotator cuff injury of qi stagnation and blood stasis type underwent rotator cuff repair under shoulder arthroscopy were given retrospective analysis and divided into the control group and the observation group according to their treatment preferences , with 44 and 40 cases in each group respectively. Both groups were given routine analgesic measures after operation, and the observation group was additionally treated with yang- reinforcing cupping therapy based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) in shoulder joint pain,University of California,Los Angeles (UCLA) Shoulder Score, and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons' Form (ASES) were evaluated before and after treatment. Results: The scores of VAS in shoulder joint pain after 1 and 2 weeks of treatment in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),the ASES scores after 1 and 2 weeks of treatment in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). The scores of VAS in shoulder joint pain after 2 weeks of treatment were decreased when compared with those after 1 week of treatment (P<0.05), the ASES scores after 2 weeks of treatment were increased when compared with those after 1 week of treatment (P<0.05). The scores of VAS in shoulder joint pain after 1 and 2 weeks of treatment in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), the ASES scores after 1 and 2 weeks of treatment in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After 1 and 2 weeks of treatment, the scores of pain, function, forward buckling activity, and pre-buckling strength in UCLA Shoulder Score and the patient satisfaction in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the scores after 2 weeks of treatment were increased when compared with those after 1 week of treatment (P<0.05);the scores after 1 and 2 weeks of treatment in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). During treatment, there was no complication related to operation or yang- reinforcing cupping therapy in the two groups. Conclusion:yang-reinforcing cupping therapy combined with routine analgesic measures can effectively alleviate early shoulder joint pain in patients undergoing rotator cuff repair under shoulder arthroscopy, help patients engage in functional exercise as soon as possible after operation, better restore joint function, and improve their activities of daily living.
