Abstract： Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common disease of rheumatology and also a refractory disease， belonging to lame impediment in Chinese medicine. HUANG Chuanbing believed the main pathogenesis is “spleen-kidney deficiency and wind-dampness obstruction” after he studied and read the classics and inherited the thoughts of Xin'an. He put forward the characteristic syndrome differentiation and treatment of “wind” and “dampness” in active stage and of “weakness” and “stasis” in remission stage by flexible formulation of selected prescriptions and used medicine based on diseases， which provides new thoughts for treating RA based on syndrome differentiation.
