Abstract: Taking the physiological and pathological functions of the spleen as the entry point for analysis, the authors believe that male infertility and metabolic syndrome are both closely related to the abnormal transportation and transformation of the spleen and stomach, and that spleen deficiency cannot engender the essence and thus the essence chamber is not nourished, which further leads to infertility. The failure of the spleen to transport food and drinks results in the accumulation of turbid phlegm and fat and grease, which causes metabolic syndrome. Male infertility complicated with metabolic syndrome is not a simple combination of two types of diseases, but an organic combination based on similar etiology, the same pathogenesis, pathological interactions and similar treatment methods. Therefore the authors regard dampness and stasis due to spleen deficiency as the core of pathogenesis of male infertility complicated with metabolic syndrome, and fortify the spleen and eliminate the pathogenic factors as the general rule of treatment, then treat male infertility complicated with metabolic syndrome from the spleen.
