Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of Getong Tongluo Capsules combined with acupuncture on levels of neurological function and oxidative stress in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Methods:A total of 100 cases of AIS patients were divided into the control group,the Getong group,the acupuncture group , and the combination group according to the random number table method , with 25 cases in each group. The control group was given general treatment and specialized treatment; the Getong group was additionally given Getong Tongluo Capsules based on the treatment of the control group; the acupuncture group was additionally treated with acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group; the combination group was additionally treated with Getong Tongluo Capsules combined with acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. All the 4 groups were treated for 14 days continuously. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores,levels of neurological impairment indexes [S-100B protein,neuron-specific enolase (NSE),and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)],and oxidative stress indexes [glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px),superoxide dismutase (SOD),8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHDG),and malondialdehyde (MDA)] in the 4 groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, NIHSS scores in the 4 groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); NIHSS scores in the Getong group, the acupuncture group, and the combination group were lower than that in the control group (P<0.05),and NIHSS score in the combination group were lower than those in the Getong group and the acupuncture group (P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of S- 100B protein,NSE,and GFAP in serum in the 4 groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the levels of S-100B protein,NSE,and GFAP in serum in the Getong group, the acupuncture group,and the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), and the levels of S- 100B protein, NSE, and GFAP in serum in the combination group were lower than those in the Getong group and the acupuncture group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of SOD and GSH-Px in serum in the 4 groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the levels of MDA and 8- OHDG in serum were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); the levels of SOD and GSH- Px in serum in the Getong group, the acupuncture group,and the combination group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05),and the levels of MDA and 8-OHDG in serum were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05);the levels of SOD and GSH-Px in serum in the combination group were higher than those in the Getong group and the acupuncture group (P<0.05);the levels of MDA and 8-OHDG in serum in the combination group were lower than those in the Getong group and the acupuncture group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Getong Tongluo Capsules combined with acupuncture for AIS patients can effectively improve the degree of neurological deficit and oxidative stress indexes.
