Clinical Study on Intervention of Traditional Chinese Medicine Continuing Care Com⁃ bined with Routine Therapy in Patients with Liver Cirrhosis and Portal Hypertension After Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of intervention of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) continuing care combined with routine therapy on discharged patients after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). Methods: A total of 66 cases of discharged patients who received TIPS for portal hypertension in cirrhosis were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 33 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine treatment and routine general nursing measures, and the observation group was treated with routine treatment and TCM continuing care. The intervention in the two groups lasted for 6 months. The hospital readmission rates within 1 month , 3 months, and 6 months after discharge, the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy within 6 months after discharge,follow-up compliance, and the satisfaction rates of nursing measures were counted. Results: The hospital readmission rates within 1 month,3 months, and 6 months after discharge in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of hepatic encephalopathy within 6 months after discharge in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The proportion of cooperative patients in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the proportion of patients with fear in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The especial satisfaction rate of nursing measures in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05);there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of total satisfaction rates between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:For patients after TIPS for portal hypertension in cirrhosis, the TCM continuing care based on routine therapy can enhance their self-management ability, effectively reduce the hospital readmission rate and the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy, improve their follow-up compliance and satisfaction with TCM nursing.
