Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupoint catgut embedment in point combined with Adapalene Gel on acne vulgaris of spleen-stomach damp-heat type and its effects on scores of Global Acne Grading System (GAGS). Methods: The clinical data of 60 patients with acne vulgaris of spleenstomach damp-heat type were selected for retrospective analysis and divided into the control group and the observation group according to different treatment methods, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given the external application of Adapalene Gel, and the observation group was additionally treated with acupoint catgut embedment based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects, adverse reactions and recurrence rates, as well as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and GAGS scores for skin lesions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:The total effective rate was 90.00% in the observation group, and 83.33% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Before and after treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of the TCM syndrome scores of red papulopustule, greasy skin, halitosis and bitter taste, torpid intake and red togue with yellow and slimy coating between the two groups (P> 0.05); after treatment, the above TCM syndrome scores were decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and each score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P< 0.05). Before treament, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the GAGS scores between the two groups; after treatment, the GAGS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the GAGS scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). During treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions was 6.66% in the observation group and 16.66% in the control group, the difference being significant (P< 0.05). After 3 months of follow-up,the occurrence rate was 10.00% in the observation group and 23.33% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Acupoint catgut embedment combined with western medicine can enhance the clinical effect for acne vulgaris of spleen-stomach dampheat type, decrease the TCM syndrome scores and GAGS scores, incidence of adverse reactions and occurrence rate scores.
