Clinical Study on Acupuncture at Governor Vessel and Beishu Points Combined with Moxibustion with Seed-Sized Moxa Cone for Migraine Without Aura with Syndrome of Upward Harassment of Phlegm Turbidity
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of therapy of acupuncture at governor vessel and Beishu point combined with moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone on migraine without aura with syndrome of upward harassment of phlegm turbidity. Methods:A total of 100 patients with migraine without aura with syndrome of upward harassment of phlegm turbidity were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was given Flunarizine Hydrochloride Capsules for treatment, and the observation group was additionally treated with acupuncture at governor vessel and Beishu points combined with moxibustion with seed- sized moxa cone based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects, onset times of headache, duration and scores of headache, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and cerebral blood flow rates were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total clinical effective rate was 96.00% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.00% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the onset times of headache in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment; the duration of headache were shorter than those before treatment, the scores of headache were decreased when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant (P<0.05);the onset times of headache in the observation group was less than that in the control group, the duration of headache was shorter than that in the control group, and the score of headache was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of pain and fullness and heaviness in head, chest discomfort and distention in stomach, vomiting and nausea and phlegm drool in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above 3 scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the blood flow rates of anterior cerebral artery (ACA), middle cerebral artery (MCA),posterior cerebral artery (PCA),vertebral artery (VA) and basilar artery (BA) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the blood flow rates of ACA,MCA,PCA,VA and BA were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the treatment of Flunarizine Hydrochloride Capsules, the application of acupuncture at governor vessel and Beishu points combined with moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone can decrease the cerebral blood flow rate of patients with migraine without aura with syndrome of upward harassment of phlegm turbidity, and improve the clinical symptoms and clinical effect.
