Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the additional application of Bushen Liyan Decoction, thum- btack needling for subcutaneous embedding on patients with post- stroke dysphagia with syndrome of kidney deficiency with phlegm stasis obstructing orifices. Methods:A total of 86 poststroke dysphagia patients with syndrome of kidney deficiency with phlegm stasis obstructing orifices were selected as the study objects and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 43 cases in each group. The two groups were given routine western medicine and rehabilitation training; the control group was treated with thum- btack needling for subcutaneous embedding, and the observation group was given Bushen Liyan Decoction, thum- btack needling for subcutaneous embedding for treatment. With 10 days as a course of treatment, the two groups were treated for 3 courses. Before and after treatment, the recovery of swallowing function was evaluated by Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA),and the clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: After 3 courses of treatment, the total effective rate was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The SSA scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the SSA score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:Based on routine western medicine and rehabilitation training, the additional application of Bushen Liyan Decoction, thum- btack needling for subcutaneous embedding has a definite effect on patients with post- stroke dysphagia with syndrome of kidney deficiency with phlegm stasis obstructing orifices, which can effectively promote the recovery of swallowing function with good safety.
