Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Shufeng Tongluo Prescription combined with routine western medicine for bronchial asthma (BA). Methods：A total of 128 patients with bronchial asthma were divided into control group and observation group according to random number table method， with 64 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine symptomatic treatment，and the observation group was treated with Shufeng Tongluo Prescription on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared，and the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score，asthma control score，lung function，levels of serum IL- 6，IL-8，IFN-γ were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results： The total effective rate was 87.50% in the observation group， higher than that of 70.31% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，TCM syndrome scores and Asthma Control Questionnaire (ACQ) scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and TCM syndrome score and ACQ score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1)，forced vital capacity (FVC)，FEV1/FVC and peak expiratory flow (PEF) in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment，and FEV1，FVC，FEV1/FVC and PEF in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of IL-6，IL-8 and IFN-γ in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the levels of IL- 6，IL-8 and IFN-γ in serum in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Shufeng Tongluo Prescription combined with routine western medicine for BA has a definite clinical effect， which can effectively control asthma symptoms， improve lung function and reduce the levels of inflammatory factors in serum，with high safety.
