Abstract：Objective：To observe the curative effect of Erlong Zuoci Pills combined with sound therapy for chronic tinnitus of kidney essence depletion type. Methods：A total of 80 cases of patients with chronic tinnitus of kidney essence depletion type were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with sound therapy，and the observation group was additionally treated with Erlong Zuoci Pills based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 3 months. The clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment，the changes in scores of Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI)， tinnitus severity， Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate of clinical effect was 87.5% in the observation group and 67.5% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment，the THI scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the THI score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of tinnitus severity in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the PSQI scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the PSQI score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the TCM syndrome score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 5.0% in the control group and 2.5% in the observation group， there being no significance in the difference (P＞0.05). Conclusion： Based on sound therapy， the combined application of Erlong Zuoci Pills for chronic tinnitus of kidney essence depletion type can improve clinical effects，clinical symptoms and sleep quality.
