Abstract: Objective: To discuss the administration rules of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS- D) by data mining. Methods: The clinical studies on TCM for IBS-D on the China Knowledge Network Infrastructure (CNKI) from 1985 to 2020 were retrieved. The information tables of Chinese herbal prescriptions were made by Microsoft Excel 2016, and the software,including SPSS20 and SPSS Modeler 18 were used to perform frequency analysis,nature flavor and channel tropism analysis , association rules analysis and cluster analysis , in order to dig out the administration rules of TCM for IBS-D. Results:A total of 366 documents were included,with 417 Chinese herbal prescriptions concerning 205 kinds of Chinese herbs. Such Chinese herbs as Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Paeoniae Radix Alba, Poria, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium and Saposhnikoviae Radix were used more frequently. They are mainly of deficiency-supplementing ,qiregulating types;and most of them are sweet in flavor and warm and neutral in nature,with main meridian entries of the spleen meridian,the stomach meridian and the lung meridian. The medicinal combinations commonly used include Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma- Paeoniae Radix Alba, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma- Paeoniae Radix Alba- Poria, and Saposhnikoviae Radix- Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma- Poria. Based on the cluster analysis,finally 6 types of descriptions were concluded,with main effects of harmonizing the liver and the spleen, fortifying the spleen and dispelling dampness, warming yang to check diarrhea, tonifying deficiency to check diarrhea. Conclusion:Committed to the holism and syndrome differentiation treatment,TCM treatment for IBS-D applys therapies of harmonizing the liver and the spleen,fortifying the spleen and dispelling dampness,and warming yang to check diarrhea,and modified formulas,including Important Formula for Painful Diarrhea and Four Spirits Pills,are given accordingly in clinical treatment.
