Abstract： The article aims to introduce the clinical experience of Director HUA Rong treating encephalopathy by wind medicinals. Director HUA holds that encephalopathy caused by external wind or internal wind has the characteristics of rapid onset， and rapid change， which is consistent with the characteristics of wind pathogen， namely wondering disease location， constant and irregular changes， and rapid onset. The pathogenesis is mainly characterized by defense-exterior insecurity，direct attack by wind pathogen， and insufficient middle qi. Wind medicinals are ascending， dispersing， venting， scurrying，unblocking，drying，and stirring，and can resolve exterior wind pathogen，raise yang qi，and unblock the brain orifice. Therefore， in the clinical treatment of encephalopathy， the use of wind medicinals for releasing exterior and venting pathogens is the first choice；then，wind medicinals for raising yang and overcoming dampness are used to supplement brain marrow， for regulating qi and resolving constraint to calm the mind， and for dispelling wind and unblocking the collaterals to unblock cerebral collaterals.
