Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of adjuvant treatment of point application with Chinese medicinals for hemiplegia after cerebral infarction. Methods:A total of 148 cases of patients with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction were divided into the western medicine group and the point application group according to the random number table method, with 74 cases in each group. The western medicine group was treated with western medicine and rehabilitation training, and the point application group was additionally treated with point application with Chinese medicinals based on the treatment of the western medicine group. Both groups were treated for 6 weeks. Muscle strength, motor function of limbs and selfcare ability before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results:The total effective rate was 81.08% in the point application group higher than that of 63.51% in the western medicine group(P<0.05). After treatment, the grading of muscle strength in the point application group was better than that in the western medicine group, the difference being significant(P< 0.05). After treatment, the Fugl-Meyer scores of upper and lower limbs in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the Fugl- Meyer scores of upper and lower limbs in the point application group were higher than those in the western medicine group(P<0.05). After treatment,Barthel indexes in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and Barthel index in the point application group was higher than that in the western medicine group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Point application with Chinese medicinals in adjuvant treatment of hemiplegia after cerebral infarction can improve the muscle strength and motor function of limbs in patients, and enhance their self-care ability.
