Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of modified Zhengxin Decoction combined with Aripiprazole on schizophrenia with heart- spleen deficiency syndrome. Methods：A total of 62 patients with schizophrenia were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method， with 31 cases in each group. The control group was only treated with Aripiprazole Tablets， and the observation group was additionally treated with modified Zhengxin Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. Two groups were treated for three months. The scores of Positive and Negative Symptom Scale(PANSS)， the scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) symdromes and overall clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate was 93.55% in the observation group， and 70.97% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference in the scores of positive symptoms，negative symptoms and general psychopathology in PANSS between the two groups (P＞0.05)； after treatment， the scores of positive symptoms， negative symptoms and general psychopathology in PANSS in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the above scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference in the syndrome scores of heart- spleen deficiency， including trance， speech disorder， palpitations， tendency to be sad and to cry， less sleep， poor appetite and fatigue， between the two groups(P＞0.05)； after treatment， the above TCM scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of modified Zhengxin Decoction combined with Aripiprazole can effectively improve the symptoms and signs of patients with schizophrenia with heartspleen deficiency syndrome，enhance TCM syndromes，and improve the clinical treatment effect.
