Abstract： From the perspective of liver diseases such as hypochondriac pain， jaundice， abdominal distention and accumulations and gatherings，this paper analyzes GONG Tingxian's diagnosis and treatment thoughts and medication experience for liver diseases. In treating hypochondriac pain， GONG Tingxian makes good use of the methods of soothing the liver and resolving constraint， rectifying qi and relieving pain， and modifies the prescriptions like Shugan Powder， Tuiqi Powder and Danggui Longhui Pills. In treating jaundice， he uses the method of clearing heat， draining dampness and removing jaundice， and modifies Yinchen Powder， Yinchen Dahuang Tang and Shendan Tang. In treating abdominal distention， GONG uses the methods of fortifying the spleen and harmonizing the stomach， and dispersing and eliminating distention， and modifies prescriptions like Fenxiao Tang and Xingshi Buqi Yangxue Tang. In treating accumulations and gatherings， he uses the methods of eliminating phlegm and dissipating masses，and usually modifies Kuijian Tang，Huapi Pellets and Qianjin Huaqi Tang.
