Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Longdan Xiegan Tang combined with Estazolam Tablets for insomnia of depressed liver qi transforming into fire type. Methods : A total of 92 cases of patients with insomnia of depressed liver qi transforming into fire type were selected and divided into the control group and the study group according to the random number table method, with 46 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Estazolam Tablets,and the study group was additionally treated with Longdan Xiegan Tang based on the treatment of the control group. After four weeks of treatment, the clinical effects, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) scores and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome scores in the two groups were observed and compared. Results: The total effective rate was 95.7% in the study group and 80.4% in the control group,the difference being significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of TCM syndrome scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After two and four weeks of treatment,TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P< 0.05),and the syndrome score in the study group was lower than that in the control group at the same time point(P<0.05). Before treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of PSQI including daytime function,hypnotics,sleep disorder,sleep efficiency,sleep time,time for falling asleep and sleep quality between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment,the above scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of modified Longdan Xiegan Tang combined with Estazolam Tablets for insomnia of depressed liver qi transforming into fire type can enhance the clinical effect,and improve TCM syndrome scores and sleep quality,with a better curative effect than that of simple western medicine.
