Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of modified Guishen Tang combined with Estazolam Tablets on insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome. Methods：A total of 66 patients with insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome were selected and divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method，with 33 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Estazolam Tablets； the treatment group was additionally treated with modified Guishen Tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks continuously. The scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) and syndrome scores of dual deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome as well as the clinical effect were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate was 93.94% in the treatment group and 72.73% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of scores of sleep quality，sleep latency，sleep efficiency，sleep duration， sleep disorders，daytime function and hypnotic medicine and total scores of PSQI between the two groups (P＞0.05)；after treatment，the above eight scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above eight scores in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of syndrome scores of palpitation and inability to sleep，lassitude of spirit and forgetfulness， shortness of breath and fatigue， vertigo and dizzy vision， sallow and yellow complexion，and poor food intake and loose stool between the two groups(P＞0.05)；after treatment，the above six scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above six scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of modified Guishen Tang combined with Estazolam Tablets for patients with insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome can effectively improve the sleep quality and traditonal Chinese medicine syndromes of patients，with a significant clinical effect.
